Keeping ahead of COVID-19
COVID-19 has imposed an unsettling, fluid situation upon our global community and its businesses. While the team at Greenergy still aims to maintain a “business as usual” approach, we have made a number of significant changes to our operation to account for a situation that is unfortunately becoming the new normal.
The intention of this mitigation strategy is also to satisfy the South Australian Government's Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel No 13) (COVID-19) Direction 2020, Schedule 2 Clause 3 (3) for our Essential Travellers operating within the energy sector.

Our approach
To keep workers safe and limit the spread of COVID-19, Greenergy has employed the following habits at our workplaces:
- working from home, where possible
- ensure physical distancing by keeping a distance of at least 1.5 metres between the team, from Clients and other teams when working on sites
- encouraging each other to frequently wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and practice good hygiene
- staying aware of how to spot COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath) and make sure the team do not come to work if they are unwell
- make sure our workplaces are regularly cleaned and disinfected
- ensure sites we work on have signs and posters around the workplace to remind workers and others of the risks of COVID-19 and the measures that are necessary to stop its spread
- avoiding air travel and airports
- avoiding public transport
- self-isolating as per each country, state or Client's requirement
- wearing face masks when operating in areas with Stage 4 restrictions, including maintaining one worker per four square metres of enclosed workspace or in shared areas
- collect records of all workers, subcontractors, customers and clients attending the same work premises and in close contact for 15 minutes or longer
- all personnel are to maintain an ACTIVE Australian Government COVIDSafe App
- COVID testing will be undertaken every 7-days, with a valid pass certificate being provided no older than 14-days old and a certificate of a test swab no older than 7-days old when attending a site or SAPOL Controlled Border
Being pragmatic
Much of Greenergy’s work is in support of essential and mission-critical activities, and our personnel are playing an integral role in supporting our Clients in their efforts to mitigate the spread, and ensure the safety of communities around the world. Where the essential and mission-critical nature of our work requires us to maintain staff at certain sites or locations, we work closely with our Clients to establish project-specific plans to ensure the safety of our people, the site in which we work on, and the integrity of the operation.
Embracing virtual teaming
Greenergy use Microsoft Teams (Teams) as it offers many benefits for remote work environments, including the ability to keep communication and collaboration as effective as traditional methods, while also meeting Greenergy's and our Client's security and compliance needs.
If you are you trying to figure out how to run your business virtually in response to the novel coronavirus, or to simply work even more effectively with us, there would be a great benefit in learning how to use Teams, which provides remote workers with the following functionality:

As COVID-19 leads to more closures and impacts more people in our communities, moving to a virtual environment can help your teams balance their work tasks and care for family as well as help your company ride through these challenging times.
